The team includes a board-certified obesity medicine specialist, a board-certified nurse practitioner with advanced training in obesity medicine and registered dietitians dedicated to your weight loss goals.
Getting Started
The weight management team will evaluate your health history, discuss different treatment options and develop a customized plan just for you. The amount of weight you lose will be determined by factors such as medical history, your individualized weight loss plan and your adherence to diet, exercise and lifestyle changes. Services may include some or all of the following:
Body Composition Assessment
New patients are weighed using a special body composition scale. Results provide important insights and serve as a starting point for your weight loss journey.
The body composition scale measures a number of variables that may impact weight loss, including:
- Height
- Weight
- BMI
- Fat mass index
- Fat free mass index
- Fat mass percentage
- Skeletal muscle mass
- Visceral adipose tissue
- Segmental skeletal muscle mass
- Energy expenditure (resting and total)
One-to-One Counseling
Registered dietitians will develop a personalized nutrition plan based on your muscle mass, body fat mass and individual needs. This plan can help you lose weight and inches, lower BMI, increase energy and help you effectively use a food diary.
Weight Loss Medication
Lutheran Health Network offers physician-supervised programs that utilize prescription medication for those that qualify. A board-certified obesity medicine specialist will determine whether or not medication is right for you. Appointments to evaluate progress are scheduled based on your needs.
