Bluffton Regional Medical Center, Dupont Hospital and Lutheran Downtown Hospital all earned an “A” Hospital Safety Grade from The Leapfrog Group, an independent national nonprofit watchdog focused on patient safety. Leapfrog assigns an “A,” “B,” “C,” “D” or “F” grade to general hospitals across the country based on over 30 measures of errors, accidents, injuries and infections as well as the systems hospitals have in place to prevent them.
“This achievement reflects the commitment of our team members to providing safe and high-quality care to our patients through dedication and consistency. We’re truly honored by this recognition but the real reward is knowing our work is making a difference,” said Julie Thompson, chief administrative officer and chief nursing officer at Bluffton Regional Medical Center.
“This recognition shows the unwavering dedication, compassion and expertise of our entire team. In healthcare, every achievement begins with people who care deeply and I’m incredibly proud to lead a group that puts patients at the heart of everything we do,” said Brent Parsons, chief executive officer of Dupont Hospital.
“Achieving an ‘A’ Hospital Safety Grade reflects enormous dedication to patient safety,” said Leah Binder, president and CEO of The Leapfrog Group. “I extend my congratulations to Bluffton Regional, Dupont and Lutheran Downtown Hospitals, its leadership, clinicians, staff and volunteers for creating a culture where patients come first.”
“Earning this rating is more than an honor, it’s a powerful reminder of why we do what we do. In a field where every decision can change a life, this team has consistently risen to the challenge with integrity, innovation and heart,” said Perry Gay, chief executive officer of Lutheran Downtown Hospital.
The Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade stands as the only hospital ratings program focused solely on preventable medical errors, infections and injuries that kill more than 500 patients a day in the United States. This program is peer-reviewed, fully transparent and free to the public. Grades are updated twice annually, in the fall and spring.
