Survivors Celebrate Thrill of the Fight: Victory
1/2/2020

In a room adorned with purple table clothes, purple balloons and purple ribbon, a group of pancreatic cancer survivors shared advice and their own personal stories as they gathered to celebrate one thing: victory. This late November celebration came during Pancreatic Cancer Awareness Month, a time to honor those whose lives have been impacted by this disease, but also to encourage others to take action and speak out about the dangers associated with this condition.
Each of the survivors in attendance shared details about their unique battle, but for one survivor, the opportunity to meet with the doctors and nurses who stood with her from day one was most impactful. "This celebration was a great time to meet with others who have been impacted by pancreatic cancer and hear about their journey," Vicki, a pancreatic cancer survivor, stated. "The opportunity to see the doctors and nurses again who are and have been involved in my own personal journey truly meant a lot to me."
The group ended the celebration with a survivors walk through the hospital and in the spirit of being united in this fight, the group signed a purple "Together We Can" sign, which is currently on display at the hospital's Cancer Resource Center.
"I do want to thank everyone for all the support they have given me and continue to give me – it is because of them I found I could smile on days I felt it was not possible."
