Lutheran physician becomes new medical director at Rehabilitation Hospital

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (Monday, Aug. 22, 2016) - Preeti Dembla, M.D., is the new medical director at Rehabilitation Hospital of Fort Wayne, a member of the Lutheran Health Network.
In July 2009, Dembla joined Lutheran Medical Group as a hospitalist. She became the medical director of the Hospitalist Program in June 2012, and then she became a physician advisor for Lutheran Hospital in January 2015.
Dembla received her medical degree from Seth G.S. Medical College in Mumbai, India, in 1994. She completed her residency in general medicine at KEM Hospital in Mumbai, and an internal medicine residency at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria, Ill., in 2000.
Dembla served as the chief resident during 2001 at Carle Hospital in Urbana, Ill., and also worked as a hospitalist at Harton Regional Medical Center in Tullahoma, Tenn., and as an internist at Trinity Health in Garrison, N.D. During her professional career, she has managed the care of patients receiving physical and occupational therapies as well as other rehabilitation services.
Dembla is licensed through the American Board of Internal Medicine, and she belongs to the American College of Physicians, the Indiana Medical Society and the Fort Wayne Medical Society.
As the region's only freestanding hospital accredited both by The Joint Commission and the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities, Rehabilitation Hospital of Fort Wayne has helped thousands of patients with serious illness or injury regain independence.
The Rehab Hospital prides itself on the delivery of comprehensive care including specialized programs for brain injury, stroke and amputations. The facility was the first inpatient rehab provider in northeastern Indiana to obtain CARF accreditation in stroke specialty.
