One of only 100 hospitals nationwide and the only hospital in Indiana to receive prestigious cardiovascular recognition
FORT WAYNE, Ind. — Lutheran Hospital has earned the American College of Cardiology’s (ACC) HeartCARE Center National Distinction of Excellence, becoming one of only 100 hospitals in the nation and the only hospital in Indiana to receive the prestigious designation. Lutheran Hospital has held this designation consecutively since 2018, making it one of the first seven hospital in the country to achieve the designation. The recognition highlights Lutheran Hospital’s unwavering commitment to delivering exceptional cardiovascular care and advancing patient outcomes through ongoing quality improvement initiatives.
The designation, awarded annually in July, recognizes Lutheran Hospital’s achievement of ACC accreditation standards and active participation in national performance registries that support evidence-based care and continuous performance improvement.
The ACC HeartCARE Center designation is awarded to hospitals and health systems that meet rigorous criteria, including participation in multiple ACC Accreditation Services programs, National Cardiovascular Data Registry (NCDR) registries and targeted quality initiatives aimed at improving adherence to clinical guidelines and enhancing patient care.
“This achievement reflects the dedication of our physicians, nurses, clinicians and support staff who work every day to provide outstanding cardiovascular care,” said Kasey Ladig, chief quality officer at Lutheran Hospital. “Being recognized as the only hospital in Indiana and one of just 100 hospitals nationwide to earn this distinction demonstrates our commitment to delivering compassionate, high-quality care close to home while continually striving to improve outcomes for the patients and communities we serve.”
Lutheran Hospital’s cardiovascular program provides advanced care for patients with serious heart failure conditions. Heart failure means the heart is not able to pump enough blood and oxygen to meet the body’s needs. Hospitals that earn Advanced Heart Failure Accreditation have proven expertise in treating complex cases and are equipped to provide advanced treatments such as heart transplantation and mechanical circulatory support. They also meet strict standards set by the American College of Cardiology. This recognition demonstrates our superior heart care and reinforces our commitment to providing high-quality cardiovascular services close to home for patients throughout northeast Indiana.
