Lutheran Health Network announces that the new Lutheran Downtown Hospital, located at the corner of Van Buren and West Main streets, will open for patient care on November 13, 2021.
Lutheran Health Network announced the new hospital in 2017 and construction began in 2019 on the 194,000 square foot, $122 million project.
“I am pleased that Lutheran Downtown Hospital will be completed months ahead of schedule. Our community is going to benefit from a hospital that is designed with the total patient experience in mind. We will deliver on our mission of providing compassionate care to our community, with excellence, to every patient, every time,” said Twilla Lee, CEO of Lutheran Downtown Hospital.
Patients and guests will experience a healing environment with soothing colors, natural light and comfortable spaces. The 60 bed facility will offer an intensive care unit; four surgery suites; three endoscopy suites; robotic-assisted surgery technology; full complement of diagnostic imaging and laboratory services.
The emergency department includes 19 private exam rooms, two major trauma rooms and four safe hold rooms. Patient triage bays are located adjacent to the diagnostic imaging department which offers a CT scanner that can calculate and adjust radiation based on the patient’s size. The MRI can accommodate patients of size for scanning and provides the silent scan technology that greatly reduces noise, improving the patient experience.
The hospital’s four operating suites feature advanced technology and are larger than conventional surgical spaces to accommodate specialized equipment and robotic-assisted procedures.
Private patient rooms are designed with the patient’s experience in mind, including larger rooms, a bathroom with shower, large-screen TV and internet access.
“We are thankful to the many individuals who contributed to this undertaking. We would like to especially acknowledge the construction team who diligently worked on this project, including Weigand Construction. We look forward to expanding our services to meet our community’s needs,” said Lee.
