Child pedestrian safety awareness reminds all to stay alert while driving or walking
WHAT: Lutheran Children's Hospital launches 2015 Kids dart. Drive smart. campaign. The public is welcome to pick up a free yard sign to promote child pedestrian safety. In addition, some of the children featured in the campaign will be autographing the yard signs.

WHY: May, June, July and October have the highest pedestrian injury and death rates. In 2013, pedestrian injuries from being hit by vehicles tripled - more than 500 pedestrians were struck by vehicles in Allen County. Such injuries can be avoided. Reminding walkers and drivers to stay alert and eliminate distractions is one way to encourage safety.
