Eight Lutheran Health Nurses Receive Nursing Excellence Award

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (Jan. 18, 2022) – Lutheran Health Network announced the recipients of its 2021 Nursing Excellence Award today
The following nurses were nominated by their peers from LHN facilities throughout the region to receive the honor for their critical role in treating patients and consistently demonstrating characteristics of nursing excellence: Vickie Cook, RN, Bluffton Regional Medical Center; Naomi Foor, RN, Rehabilitation Hospital; Maria Garcia, RN, Kosciusko Community Hospital; Tanya Oaks, RN, Dukes Memorial Hospital; Kyle Putt, RN, The Orthopedic Hospital; Elizabeth Salazar, RN, Lutheran Downtown Hospital; Sara Skeans, BSN, Lutheran Hospital; and Amanda Widenhoeffer, RN, Dupont Hospital.
“Lutheran Health Network is fortunate to have so many outstanding nurses who provide exemplary care, compassion and service to patients, and who understand the importance of teamwork, mentoring others and leading in times of crises,” said Natalie Seaber, chief nursing officer for Lutheran Health Network. “With an ongoing focus on the selfless efforts of healthcare professionals, we are pleased to acknowledge the important contributions of our nursing professionals in 2021.”
In addition to the award, each nurse received a cash prize and a copy of Shining the Light on All the Right: Celebrating the Art of Nursing Around the World by Bonnie and Mark Barnes, co-founders of the DAISY Foundation, an international movement created to recognize and express gratitude for extraordinary nursing.
