Dupont Hospital and Lutheran Kosciusko Hospital earned an “A” Hospital Safety Grade from The Leapfrog Group, an independent national nonprofit watchdog focused on patient safety. Leapfrog assigns an “A”, “B”, “C”, “D” or “F” grade to general hospitals across the country using evidence-based measures of patient safety focused exclusively on errors, accidents, injuries and infections.
“Earning an ‘A’ rating is a clear reflection of the clinical excellence and rigorous safety protocols that define our culture at Dupont Hospital,” said Brent Parsons, chief executive officer of Dupont Hospital. “This recognition from Leapfrog reinforces our promise to the community that every patient receives care rooted in the high national standards.”
“This ‘A’ rating validates our team’s focus on delivering an exceptional experience for our neighbors. Our commitment to quality-driven, patient-centered care remains our top priority. We see this recognition as a springboard for further innovation in safety, affirming that ‘quality care’ is the standard for every resident who walks through our doors,” said Chad Towner, chief executive officer of Lutheran Kosciusko Hospital.
The Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade stands as the only hospital ratings program focused solely on preventable medical errors, infections and injuries that kill more than 500 patients a day in the United States. This program is peer-reviewed, fully transparent and free to the public. Grades are updated twice annually, in the fall and spring.
“An ‘A’ Grade is a strong sign that Dupont Hospital and Lutheran Kosciusko Hospital are deeply committed to protecting patients from harm,” said Leah Binder, president and CEO of the Leapfrog Group. “We commend the leadership, Board, clinicians, staff and volunteers for the role each played in earning this distinction.”
These high marks for safety arrive as both institutions celebrate significant milestones of service to their communities. Dupont Hospital has marked its 25th anniversary, while Lutheran Kosciusko Hospital will celebrate 50 years of clinical excellence next week. Both hospitals demonstrate that their decades of experience are matched by a forward-looking dedication to modern patient safety and regional health.
