FORT WAYNE, Ind. (July 15, 2019) - Six new providers specializing in the areas of cardiology, gynecologic oncology, gastroenterology and neonatology are the most recent additions to the Lutheran Health Physicians team.
Gary Frick, D.O., M.S., RPH, FACC, FACOI, RSO, is a member of the Lutheran Health Physicians cardiology team. He examines, diagnoses and treats patients with heart disorders that can be managed by medication and lifestyle changes. His office is located at 1123 North Western Ave. in Marion.
Dr. Frick completed a bachelor's degree in pharmacy from Southwestern Oklahoma State University in Weatherford before earning a master's degree in hospital pharmacy from the University of Houston. He later conducted post-graduate work in the department of biology at the University of Texas in San Antonio. Dr. Frick graduated cum laude with his doctor of osteopathic medicine from the Texas College of Osteopathic Medicine of the University of North Texas Health Science Center.
Dr. Frick completed an internship at Normandy Osteopathic Hospitals in St. Louis, an internal medicine residency at the Chicago Osteopathic Medical Center, and a cardiovascular medicine fellowship from Olympia Fields Osteopathic Medical Center in Illinois. Dr. Frick has extensive professional pharmacy experience, serving as a hospital pharmacy intern with the Veterans Administration Medical Center in Popular Bluff, Missouri, and as a hospital pharmacy resident with the Veterans Administration Medical Center in Houston.
Dr. Frick has over 25 years of cardiology-focused experience, including several years with Cardiovascular Consultants of Marion, PC, which joined LHP in 2019. He is a fellow to the American College of Cardiology and the American College of Osteopathic Internists, as well as a diplomat of the National Board of Examiners for Osteopathic Physicians and Surgeons.
John Geisler, M.D., FACOG, is a gynecologic oncologist who specializes in diagnosing and treating cancers within women's reproductive organs. Prior to joining Lutheran Health Physicians, Dr. Geisler served as a gynecologic oncologist at the Cancer Treatment Centers of America in Newnan, Georgia.
After completing his bachelor of science degree with high honors from the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, Dr. Geisler completed a doctor of medicine degree at Indiana University School of Medicine in Indianapolis. His postgraduate training began with a residency in obstetrics and gynecology at Loyola University Medical Center, followed by a preliminary medicine residency and four-year residency in obstetrics and gynecology at St. Vincent Hospitals and Health Service. He completed fellowships in pelvic surgery and gynecologic oncology at the University of Iowa Hospital and Clinics. He recently received a master's degree in pharmacoeconomics at the University of Florida.
Dr. Geisler has held numerous professional and academic positions which included serving as a gynecologic oncologist in private practice for several years in Indiana. He also served as the director of gynecologic oncology research at St. Vincent Hospital and Health Services. He later became professor of obstetrics and gynecology and director of gynecologic oncology at the University of Toledo College of Medicine & Life Sciences, where he was also associate program director of the obstetrics & gynecology residency. He later became chief of the ob/gyn clinical service and director of the ob/gyn third-year clerkship.
Dr. Geisler is board certified in obstetrics and gynecology and gynecologic oncology by the American Board of Obstetrics & Gynecology. He is a member of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, the Society of Gynecologic Oncologists, the International Gynecologic Cancer Society and the American Association for Cancer Research.
Dr. Geisler has published more than 120 papers in influential medical journals about the care of women with ovarian, endometrial, cervical, vaginal and vulvar cancer. He has extensive experience serving with a humanitarian aid organization that promotes health, education and clean water in the Ivory Coast and currently serves on the organization's board of directors. Through this organization, Dr. Geisler has provided training for Ivorian obstetricians/gynecologists in gynecologic oncology surgery, fistula repairs, breast surgery and hernia repairs.
Kelly Manahan, M.D., FACOG, is a gynecologic oncologist who specializes in diagnosing and treating cancers within women's reproductive organs. Dr. Manahan brings over 20 years of professional experience to Lutheran Health Physicians, providing surgery and chemotherapy for gynecologic malignancies, including ovarian cancer, cervical cancer, uterine cancer and vulvar cancer. She has extended interest in integrating molecular profiling of cancers into individualized care for all patients.
After completing undergraduate studies at Grace College in Winona Lake, Dr. Manahan earned her medical degree at Indiana University School of Medicine in Indianapolis. Her postgraduate training included a residency in obstetrics and gynecology at Medical College of Ohio, where she was named chief resident in 1998, and a gynecologic oncology fellowship at the University of Michigan. She also spent one year focused exclusively on gynecologic oncology research at the University of Louisville.
Dr. Manahan has an extensive range of clinical experience and has held numerous professorships. She served as the assistant professor of clinical obstetrics and gynecology at the University of Iowa Hospitals & Clinics, as well as director of clinical research in the division of gynecologic oncology. After assuming the role as a clinical instructor at Indiana University School of Medicine, she was named vice chair of the Department of Obstetrics & Gynecology at the University of Toledo College of Medicine & Life Sciences, where she also directed the residency program. Dr. Manahan recently completed her MBA at the Terry College of Business at the University of Georgia.
Dr. Manahan has authored over 70 peer-reviewed publications of original research and case studies, along with numerous review articles and book chapters. She has presented her research at national and international professional conferences. She is a member of the Society of Gynecologic Oncologists and the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists. Dr. Manahan also serves on the board of directors for a humanitarian aid organization that promotes health, education and clean water in the Ivory Coast.
Dr. Geisler and Dr. Manahan both have offices at two locations on the Dupont Hospital campus, 2510 E. Dupont Road and 10307 Dupont Circle West, Suite A.
Mohammad Qasim Najib, M.D., is a member of the Lutheran Health Physicians cardiology team. He examines, diagnoses and treats patients with heart disorders that can be managed by medication and lifestyle changes. Dr. Najib's office is located at 7916 W. Jefferson Blvd., on the Lutheran Hospital campus.
Dr. Najib completed his medical education at King Edward Medical College in Lahore, Pakistan. He completed an internal medicine residency at Columbia University/Harlem Hospital Center in New York and a cardiology fellowship at the University of Arizona College of Medicine in Phoenix.
Prior to joining LHP, Dr. Najib served as a non-invasive cardiologist at Mercy Hospital in Joplin, Missouri. He has contributed to several publications in medical journals covering topics including cardiovascular imaging, echocardiography and cardiovascular medicine.
Joyce Bell, N.P., is a nurse practitioner who diagnoses and treats patients suffering from digestive conditions including liver disorders, irritable bowel syndrome and acid reflux. She previously served patients of all ages as a registered nurse in the endoscopy units at Lutheran and Dupont hospitals for several years. Her office is located in Suite 201 of Medical Office Building One, 7900 W. Jefferson Blvd., on the Lutheran Hospital campus.
Bell earned an associate degree and a bachelor's degree from the school of nursing at the University of Saint Francis in Fort Wayne. In 2018, she completed her master's degree in nursing from Indiana Wesleyan University in Marion.
She is a member of the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners, Coalition of Advanced Practice Nurses of Indiana and the Honors Society of Nursing Sigma Theta Tau.
Amanda Bloomfield, NNP-S, is a nurse practitioner in the neonatal intensive care units at Dupont and Lutheran hospitals, where she provides care for premature and ill newborns.
Bloomfield graduated with honors from Indiana Wesleyan University with a bachelor's degree in nursing before completing a master's degree, neonatal nurse practitioner, from the University of Alabama at Birmingham.
Prior to joining Lutheran Health Physicians, she worked as a certified neonatal registered nurse at Lutheran Hospital. Bloomfield's commitment to community outreach has been highlighted by a medical missions trip to Addis Ethiopia as well as her involvement in the ministry "Rock A Bye," the Fort Wayne Foster Parent Association and The March of Dimes.
