Lutheran Health Network Announces Major Renovation and Expansion of Dupont Hospital’s Birthplace

FORT WAYNE, Ind. - As more northeast Indiana families choose Dupont Hospital for maternity care, Lutheran Health Network is investing in the future of its Birthplace with a major renovation and expansion beginning Monday, Aug. 3.
The renovation follows a record month of 282 births this past June, the highest monthly total in Dupont Hospital's 25-year history. The project will modernize the Birthplace with new flooring, cabinetry, furniture and paint throughout the unit, while adding two new labor and delivery rooms to meet the growing demand for maternity care and enhance the experience for mothers, babies and their families.
The renovation will increase the Birthplace's capacity while creating a more modern, comfortable and family-centered environment for growing families. The project reflects Lutheran Health Network's continued commitment to investing in facilities and expanding access to high-quality care throughout northeast Indiana.

The Birthplace will remain open throughout construction, and maternity services will continue without interruption. The project has been carefully planned to minimize disruptions while maintaining the safe, compassionate care families expect from Dupont Hospital.
Construction is expected to take approximately nine to 12 months. Once complete, the renovated Birthplace will offer expanded capacity, updated private labor rooms and modern finishes designed to enhance the experience for families welcoming their newest additions.
