RediMed Adds Two New Urgent Care Clinics Located in Downtown Fort Wayne and New Haven

Systemwide Changes Highlighted by Renovations and a 60-Minute Visit Commitment

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (Wednesday, July 23, 2014) – Lutheran Health Network officials today announced that RediMed will add two new urgent care clinics, one in the Anthony Wayne Building located in the heart of Fort Wayne and another at Lutheran Health Plaza in New Haven. A new Business Health Services clinic offering occupational medicine is also being added in Bluffton.

Celebrating its 30th anniversary this year, RediMed continues to blossom with new and remodeled facilities as well as enhanced services. Central to RediMed’s systemwide transformation is a renewed emphasis on quality care and greater efficiency. To illustrate that point, each RediMed urgent care clinic is initiating a 60-minute visit commitment. The 60-minute visit defines the targeted maximum amount of time for RediMed patients to check in, be cared for and check out.

“We are committed to a 60-minute visit,” said Vikash M. Negandhi, MD, COO, RediMed. “We strive to see patients in the most clinically-advanced way while providing the best services to our community in the shortest amount of time. RediMed has been a community fixture for years; we have cared for many patients, but it is time we upgrade our services and our facilities.”

The downtown RediMed will be housed on the first floor of the Anthony Wayne Building and it will include three exam rooms and a procedure room. Radiology, lab services and lower acuity procedures will be available on-site. More advanced imaging and procedures will be offered at St. Joseph Hospital, which is conveniently located just blocks away. The downtown RediMed will create 10 new healthcare jobs.

“Downtown has had very limited urgent care access outside of the hospital setting,” said Brian Bauer, CEO, Lutheran Health Network. “We are ecstatic about offering prompt, non-emergent services to citizens who work and live downtown as RediMed adds another amenity to Fort Wayne’s growing urban culture. This convenient location also provides a viable option for occupational health services. Either way, RediMed is prepared to handle both aspects of care whether for individuals or for businesses.”

RediMed has made an important operational change so that each clinic will be staffed with double provider coverage to ensure patients are seen more rapidly. Consistency in staffing is another change that officials anticipate will improve the process. Each clinic will maintain permanent staff whereas temporary staff known as locum tenens had been used in the past.

Lutheran Health Plaza in New Haven will house a RediMed urgent care clinic and Business Health Services for the delivery of occupational medicine. The New Haven location will see an addition of seven full-time employees and one part-time employee.
The establishment of a Business Health Services site in Bluffton will involve the relocation of an existing occupational medicine clinic to a 3,400-square-foot location in front of the local Wal-Mart. The new BHS clinic in Bluffton will create three full-time healthcare jobs and one part-time position.

In addition to three new locations on track to open later this year, RediMed is near completion on renovations at four of its five existing urgent care, business health and physical therapy locations.

Renovations to existing RediMed locations include the northeast and southwest urgent care clinics, the southwest and north Business Health Services sites, and the north physical therapy location. Work at the southwest urgent care clinic includes expanding the space to enhance the patient experience.

When all of the renovations are completed, RediMed will provide patients with easier access to other healthcare services within Lutheran Health Network and greater continuity of care as a result of technological upgrades. All RediMeds will be equipped with electronic medical record capabilities.

Architecture and design services for the RediMed projects are being handled by MKM architecture + design. The general contractor is The Hagerman Group.
