New Chief Nursing Officer Promoted from Within at Dupont Hospital

Fort Wayne, Ind. (Monday, Jan. 21, 2013) – Dupont Hospital officials today announced that Tina Dixon, RN, will permanently serve as chief nursing officer. She had been serving as interim CNO at Dupont. Before that, Dixon worked in a director’s capacity as the team leader of medical services since November 2009.

“Tina has served as Dupont’s interim CNO for roughly five months and she has done an excellent job quickly getting up to speed with the significant responsibility,” said Chad Towner, CEO, Dupont Hospital. “Tina understands our ‘Dupont Difference’ and she is committed to taking us to the next level of excellence in this increasingly demanding healthcare environment.”

With 25 years of nursing experience, Dixon has worked for Lutheran Health Network since 1997 at both Lutheran and Dupont hospitals. During her time with LHN, she has served 12 years in leadership roles.

As team leader of medical services, Dixon was responsible for the management of a 45-bed medical, surgical and telemetry unit, a 10-bed intensive care unit and a cardiopulmonary services area, overseeing 90 full-time employees.

Dixon was named Dupont Hospital’s Clinical Team Leader of the Year in both 2009 and 2011.

Dixon completed her hospital school of nursing training to become a registered nurse in 1987. She is currently working to obtain her Bachelor of Science degree in nursing from IPFW and then Dixon plans to pursue her Master of Science degree in nursing.
