PBS39 Bringing the Cat in the Hat to Lutheran Children’s Hospital Friday
Party to include special screening of “The Cat in the Hat Knows a Lot About Christmas!”
FORT WAYNE, Ind. (Thursday, Nov. 15, 2012) – With holiday cheer drawing oh so near, one cool cat in a red and white hat has designs to leave traces of smiling faces. Thanks to WFWA PBS39, Dr. Seuss’ beloved character Cat in the Hat will be making an appearance at Lutheran Children’s Hospital tomorrow morning. The famous feline will entertain pediatric patients and preschoolers after a private screening of the new holiday special called “The Cat in the Hat Knows a Lot About Christmas!”
Children will begin gathering at Kachmann Auditorium on the lower level of Medical Office Building Two, 7910 W. Jefferson Blvd., at 9 a.m. to view the hour-long broadcast. Lutheran Children’s Hospital team members will then lead Cat in the Hat activities for those in attendance from 10:15 to 10:45 a.m., at which time the Cat in the Hat himself will arrive to greet the kids and pose for photos.
The Cat will also stop by outpatient and inpatient units at Lutheran Children’s Hospital between 11:15 a.m. and noon to visit hospitalized patients who were unable to attend the party. Pediatric patients not at the special screening in the auditorium will still be able to view it from their rooms via a closed-circuit television broadcast.
The community will get its own chance to meet the Cat in the Hat and view “The Cat in the Hat Knows a Lot About Christmas!” during November and December. WFWA PBS39 will air the special Nov. 21, 22, 23, and Dec. 25. The special will also be shown twice Saturday, Nov. 17, at the Foellinger-Freimann Botanical Conservatory, 1100 S. Calhoun St. Show times are 12:50 and 2 p.m. The price of admission to the conservatory is $5 for adults and $3 for children between the ages of 3 and 7. Children ages 2 and under will be admitted for free.
